Namjai, a Thai-inspired iced teas company, is banking on lively, healthy offerings to attract younger customers.

0

Namjai, a company that specializes in herbal iced teas, has announced that it is aiming for a younger audience, relying on bright colors and a convenient, healthier product design to attract attention to its teas.

Namjai herbal iced teas are antioxidant, anthocyanin, and vitamin-rich super teas with special herbal and fruit flavors that will delight your senses!

Namjai (pronounced Nam as in Viet Nam, and Jai as in giant), holds a special meaning in Thailand to be kind and to help others without expecting anything in return.

It was created by Chris Giblin and Rossukon Maliwan, both of whom are entrepreneurs and love tea! It started back in 2016 when Chris bought a failed boutique hotel business in Phuket, Thailand with the challenge of turning it around and making it a viable business. He continuously looked for ways to differentiate his business from the competition. One of those ways was by offering a welcome drink to every guest who checked in. This is common for 4 and 5 star hotels, but not so common for 2.5 to 3 star hotels, like his was. He chose butterfly pea flower tea as his welcome drink because it had a refreshing herbal tea/lemonade taste, it was a healthy alternative to sugar rich sodas, and because it had a natural unique color. It was also simple to make with only a few ingredients.

Namjai herbal iced teas are not only taste amazing, but they also offer many immune-boosting benefits such as antioxidants, anthocyanins, beta-carotene, and vitamins A, B, C, and E. All of these together help protect your body’s cells against harmful free radicals, which cause cell damage, known as “Oxidative stress. Processed foods, pollution, chemicals, and smoking can cause oxidative stress. Help protect and strengthen your immune system the natural way!

Vinedos Y Bodegas De La Marquesa : Generation of highest quality wines

0
BODEGAS DE LA MARQUESA by Singapore Newspaper

BODEGAS DE LA MARQUESA is still a family company, owned by Juan Pablo De Simon y Milans del Bosch, the Winery’s great grandson, and continues to follow the Marquis de la Solana’s vision of “Vino de Pago,” a more regional appellation of origin.

Now, the 5th generation, Pablo, Jaime, and Maria de Simon (Juan Pablo’s children), have taken over the company’s various responsibilities and are preparing the next generation. People are refreshed, bringing with them new ideas and approaches to the market, but still adhering to the company’s founding principles:  family, estate vineyards and respect for quality and work well done.

Significant investments have been made in recent years to modernize the winery and provide it with the requisite technological tools.

Approximately 480,000 kg of grapes are grown annually, nearly all of which come from the family’s 65 hectares of vineyards and about 15 hectares of vineyards planted by long-term suppliers to the winery, all of which are carefully controlled to ensure grape quality. A total of 306,000 litres of red wine and 30,000 litres of white wine are produced per year on average.

All of the vines are in Rioja Alavesa, with the majority of them in Villabuena, a short distance from the winery, on sunny hillsides descending from the Sierra de Cantabria, which protects them from the north, to the Ebro River in the south-southeast. Some very mature, low-yield vineyards are conserved, while new plantations come into cultivation, all with the aim of preserving the quality and character of our wines. The vines are over 30 years old on average.

The buildings that make up the winery Bodegas de la Marquesa include the old part, which includes the ancient underground “Calados” (over 200 years old), dug into the rock to a depth of 10 meters, where the optimum temperature and humidity levels are naturally maintained and remain constant throughout the year.

On the other side, we have a variety of climate-controlled buildings where all of the vinification, aging, and bottling processes are carried out in a safe and clean setting.

Small stainless-steel vats with automatic temperature control with capacities ranging from 8,000 to 30,000 liters are used for fermentation, allowing the various grape varieties to be handled separately, allowing for better grape selection by plot and quality. Vinification and storage was also carried out in epoxy-coated concrete vats.

Vinedos Y Bodegas De La Marquesa hold a number of barrels of about 2,500 units, 70 percent American oak and 30 percent French oak from various sources and finishes, where our wines are slowly aged to acquire the aromas and flavors of cask-aged wines, which confers the finesse and elegance of Rioja wines, as well as great potential for further evolution.

Since 2004, the Winery has held an ISO 9001 certificate, ensuring the consistency of its management system in all processes and goods.

Very recently, Vinedos Y Bodegas De La Marquesa has joined Singapore Awards 2021 and won  TWO GOLD Medal award and a SILVER Medal award, Vinedos Y Bodegas De La Marquesa are indeed the best in quality.

Interview of Mr. Diego Lopez Grandmontagne

Export Manager

Question 1: Do you already export to Singapore ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in Singapore ?

Not yet, that is why we decided to participate in the Singapore Awards 2021, having in mind the importance of good and high ratings in order for people to look to our wines.

Question 2: What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors ?

Being founded more than 140 years ago, Bodegas de La Marquesa Winery and Vineyards remain as the main property of the same family as the founder, which means that all kind of decisions are taken by the family and not by stakeholders. Nowadays is the 4th and 5th generation of the Family who controls almost 85 hectares of vineyards that supply us a limited production every vintage, making possible a continuous regularity and tipicity of all our geniuses wines. Valserrano wines transmit the main characteristics of wines from the region with a personal touch from the family winemaker which aims the authenticity and differentiation of our wines.

Question 3: When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years ?

We started to export in the late 90’s mainly to Europe as for proximity was easier. Moreover, foreign tourists in Spain knew about the quality of Rioja wines and consumed them during their holidays here, so UK, center-Europeans and Scandinavian people were the first approach and so far, at this moment the most mature markets still. From that we expanded to USA and America. The last development was focused in Asia, exporting nowadays to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. Our aim for Asia is continuing our presence in Asian markets finding the right and most suitable partners in other countries for our philosophy and wines.

0
La Biòca S.r.l. agricola - Awarded Gold by Singapore Newspaper

La Biòca winery is situated in Serralungad’Alba, in Piedmont.

The word “biòca” comes from the Piedmontese language and it is used to describe a decisive person often with a “tough head”, just like us that with all our ambitions make all our best to express the excellence of this land through the wines we make.

The history of La Biòca winery is not very long, they started business in 2012 and are rather young considering all the old wineries around us, only 9 years.

However, La Biòca winery strengths are passion and youth. They work with autochthon grapes using the traditional methods of production but at the same time, they are not afraid to experiment to obtain new and interesting results. For example, They work with quite rare but very interesting vines in the area: Pelaverga and Rossese Bianco. Some time ago, They bought the amphora to be able to experiment with Nebbiolo. La Biòca always try to surprise their customers and offer to them something special and delicious.

La Biòca vineyards are situated in the villages of Monforte d’Alba (Bussia & Vigna Chiesa), Novello (Ravera), La Morra (Castagni &Croera), Barbaresco (Secondine & Ronchi). The most of the eight ha under vines are of our property and all of them now in production.

La Biòca winery produce around 80.000 bottles per year, most of them – traditional Langhe wines as:

Traditional wines: Sparkling rosé wine VSQ brut (Ricciante), Langhe DOC Rossese Bianco, Langhe DOC rosato Karina (rosé wine), Dolcettod’Alba DOC Superiore, Barberad’Alba DOC, Langhe DOC Nebbiolo.

Selections: Langhe DOC Rosso (Pelaverga), Langhe DOC Favorita, La Pipina (Nebbiolo vinified in amphora).

Interview of Ms.Olga Lamina – Export Manager

Question 1: Do you already export to Singapore ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in Singapore ?

Unfortunately for us, we don’t export to Singapore yet but we would like to open this amazing market for our wines.

Mostly of our customers are restaurants and wine bars, and certainly,we sell many wines to private customers and through e-commerce that has developed a lot after the situation with Covid.

Therefore, we are looking for an importer / a distributor who could deliver our wines to end customers to demonstrate the excellence of the Langhe soils.

Question 2: What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors?

We are the team of young people, ambitious and passionate about our work. We like what we do in life and we try to express all the beauty of the territories in our wines. It is not only wines that are made well, clean wines, quality wines, every winery can produce clean and quality wines, but our wines tell their stories, they are like people, one is a little soft, another one is more arrogant, the third is more precise, the fourth is decided, the fifth is sweet and delicate like a girl…

Our wines talk to you, whisper, chat, tell you where they come from, from which soil, if there was a lot of sun or it was raining… With every sip, you get to know them more and more and at the end, you become passionate like us 🙂

Question 3: When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years?

We started exporting of our wines in 2012, to the United States and Great Britain. Now we also work with Australia, Brazil, Thailand, Canada, Russia, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, China, and Japan. We have done a good job during these years but we do not think to stop, the world is big and we want to expand, our wines are too good to stay in the warehouse 🙂

Our future plans … We would like to conquer the Singapore market of course, and then our interests are towards India, Korea, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Latin America … we still have countries to add 🙂

Domaine Bourillon-Dorléans : Generation of Passion in Winemaking with respects to nature

0
Domaine Bourillon-Dorléans Singapore Newspaper

The Bourillon-Dorléans Estate was founded in 1921 by Gaston Dorléans, and at the present time represents 26 hectares of vineyard (50% ole Vines – mature stock) located on the best oriented of the Vouvray appellation slopes. The will is to perpetuate the traditional way of thinking and the quality of their wines especially through their strong personality. Wine growing which respects nature is also a guarantee for the optimal and regular quality of the wine.

The cellars and vineyards are at Rochecorbon, about 3 Kilometres west of Vouvray. Most of the vineyards are in one piece surrounding the Château de Montgouverne, an attractive 18th century mansion on the plateau dominating the right bank of the Loire. The cellars are typical of Vouvray : 15th century caves or quarries carved out of the hillside to provide stone for building the Châteaux of the Loire.

Young FrédéricBourillon is young and dynamic. Not content to be a great wine maker, he is also a great promoter, always successfully banding together young Vouvray growers for participation in tastings and trade fairs throughout Europe.
The Bourillon family have been making wine at Rochecorbon for many generations. Documents show the estate was founded in 1875, but it was in the 1930’s that Frédéric’s great grandfather, Gaston, started to organize the estate as it is today. Recently Frédéric has been energetically consolidating the vineyard holdings still further.

Most of them are on the plateau above Rochecorbon, near the “Lanterne”, a beacon tower that gave warning of river born invaders in the middle ages.
A new vinification plant has been built, outside the medieval underground cellars. Brand new stainless steal vats permit fermentation in ideal conditions. Ageing in the tortuous old cellars at a constant temperature allows the oldest wines to show their full potential, even after 50 years or more. A recently tasted 1921 was still young with wonderful flavours of honey and flowers, mature Chenin Blanc at perfection.

Above all the BourillonDorléans wines display the passion that Frédéric devotes to their production. A “moelleux” will only be produced when conditions are perfect. The 1985 was very fine and both 1989 and 1990 quite exceptional. These are surely wines of world class status, amount the best the Loire can produce ; wines for future generations, lasting 75 years and more.

About 30% of the production is exported, mostly to the United States, and Northern Europe. Sales in France to private clients and a few prestigious restaurants.

FrédéricBourillon produces Vouvray of enormous charm and complexity. The dry Vouvray is crisp and clean with a perfect balance. Many dry Vouvrays are acidic and aggressive but, due to low yields, Frédéric obtains a richness and concentration that balances well with the acidity. The Demi-Sec is classic Vouvray at its best. The 25 to 26 grams of residual sugar give the wines a wonderful soft texture that makes them very appealing on the palate. The Chenin is often at its best when the wines are not totally dry. With Bourillon’s Vouvray Demi-Sec there are wonderful rich flavours of apples, exotic fruit and, above all, the polish that shows the wines have been made with enormous care.

The sweet to very sweet ‘moelleux’ wines must rank with the great dessert wines of the world. They are only made in a good vintage when conditions for the development of botrytis are perfect. Again, the very small yield and enormous concentration provide us with something very special and unique. In 2009 and 2015 the conditions were ideal, the bouquet is extremely complex and intense with aromas of mangoes and honey. On the palate, your mouth is filled with an explosion of flavours. Robert Parker’s comments on the 1989 vintage were as follows :96/100 “Brilliant focus, extraordinary concentration, and remarkable tangy sweetness are all intertwined with flavors of honey, mangoes, and apples. This wine is buttressed by zesty acidity, giving it unbelievable poise and freshness in the mouth. It is truly a mind-boggling dessert wine, with phenomenal precision and clarity to its flavors. Drink it over the next 20-25 years.” 96 Points.
