Oli Migjorn is a project born in 2007, with the desire to recover the Migjorn estate, located in the Cardener Valley, in the south of Cardona, region of Bages, Barcelona. It is a project dedicated to the cultivation of olive trees and production of organic extra virgin olive oil.
Quality, the recovery of the local variety and the synergy with the territory are our day-to-day goals. Quality is one of the spearheads of the project, field work, ecological treatment, the choice of harvest time and the use of modern machinery for oil production are the key. The Corbella olive variety is a fundamental part of the Migjorn project and can be found along the Cardener River. Oli Migjorn recovers and puts into production old Corbella olive trees from different farms in Bages and Solsonès. It also carries out new olive plantations, in different leased farms with the aim of recovering the variety and its production. With these actions the old olive landscape that formerly dominated our region, along with the cultivation of the vineyards, is recovered.Today this landscape has been recovered in the municipalities of Navàs, Cardona and Súria, del Bages, and Navès, Clariana de Cardener, Riner and Pinós, del Solsonès.
The Arbequina variety is already the most widespread in the Catalan territory, and each region, climate or land determines its characteristics. Migjorn olive trees produce an ecological arbequina of height (about 600 meters), in a region where thermal changes are important and are two key elements that shape the character of our extra virgin olive oil.
The first Arbequina olive plantations are the step to start producing extra virgin olive oil . Later, the company takes a new and clear direction, recovering the native and native variety of the surroundings of the Cardener River, Corbella. Exclusive variety with a high content of polyphenols (antioxidants) and oleocantal.
The project produces and markets extra virgin oil of the Corbella, Arbequina and Picual varieties. From the Arbequina variety, it produces organic aromatized olive oil (infused) in a natural way, very fun to pair with our daily kitchen.
This 2019, Migjorn has joined Singapore Newspaper Taste Awards 2019 and won a gold and a silver medal in this competition:
