The Authentic Wines of Domaine Blouin

Must read

Domaine Blouin was founded in the 1870s, a family estate for 5 generation. The winery has 22 hectares and  it is  located on the wine route, in the heart of the tourist village of St Aubin-de-Luigné (also called Pearl of Layon).

In 1870, production was essentially devoted to dry, fluffy white wines. The estate then expanded and expanded its range by planting red grape varieties in its hillsides. It is the turn of Jean-Christophe, son of Michel Blouin, to continue the family tradition.

Domaine Blouin approach is based on sustainable agriculture. They are committed to a demanding environmental approach and Terra Vitis certified. They control the production from vine to glass of wines and sparkling wines. Their goal is to obtain the authentic wines.

Between the Loire and the Layon, discover the exceptional terroirs and awaken your senses by tasting their appellations. They specialized in the most adapted grape varieties from the Loire Valley : Chenin (60% of the vineyard/range) and Cabernets (40% of the vineyard/range).

Taste : Bright appearance and a crystal-clear red raspberry colour with salmon-pink hints.

Wine making :

  • Harvesting grapes from aromatic profiles like fresh and ripened fruit.
  • Skin maceration for 12 to 24 hours in order to extract more fruit.
  • Pressing and severe racking of the must.
  • Slow fermentation with temperature control (16-19 ° C)
helping to preserve the aromatic potential of Cabernet Franc,
until there is roughly 34gr / l of residual sugar.

“Ripe fruit and freshness”

Tasting comment :

Nose well open, intense and complex acacia honey associated with floral aromas of lemongrass and candied fruits (pineapple, apricot, quince).

Long aromatic persistence brightened by notes of fresh fruit. Round and full mouth, sometimes unctuous but always balanced by a frank and refreshing vivacity. Its strength is to be a light and easy to drink wine.

Type of wine: Fluffy white, entry-level, from overripe vintage, by successive tries in 3 passages from October 10th to November 10th. Each sort is vinified separately so that it develops its own characteristics and assembled before marketing.

Vinification: Pressed at low pressure (pneumatic press) to preserve the original aromas of the overripe grapes. The fermentation at low
temperature lasts several weeks.

Tasting: bright golden yellow dress.
