Finca Torremilanos : An organic winery located in the heart of the Ribera de Duero

Torremilanos is located in the heart of the Ribera de Duero, near the city of Aranda de Duero and in a place characterized by being one of the centers of wine culture and wine tourism in the area.

In 1903, Peñalba Lopez family started the winemaking tradition of Torremilanos, although it is in 1975 when the family acquires the farm. Convinced of the quality of their native grape, Tempranillo variety and connoisseurs of the art of viticulture, Pablo Peñalba decides to increase the amount of own vineyards to reach the 200 hectares that the family has today.

All of them are located in the mountains near the winery and are taken care of following a philosophy of respect for the environment that allows certifying all the wines of the Torremilanos Winery as ecological. The quality of the grapes, the soil, the climate, the own cooperage and the special conditions of the winery ensure the optimal aging and quality of their wines.

The vineyards are located on the south bank of the Duero River at an altitude of 800 to 900 meters. In Finca Torremilanos we practice dryland farming by growing the vineyards without herbicides or insecticides following the criteria of biodynamic agriculture. They consider themselves as“Craftsmen of the earth” practicing 100% organic and biodynamic agriculture

A centennial vineyard in a unique environment cultivated with biodynamic agriculture without using chemical elements. This allows them to produce absolutely organic wines.

This 2019, Finca Torremilanos has joined Singapore Wines, Spirits and Beers Competition and won 3 gold medals and a silver medal. Here are the list of wines:

Preparation:
Manual collection of vineyards with selection in the cellar.
100% Pinot Noir

Fermentation in oak barrels of 225 liters.

Aging:
15 months in French oak barrels.

Service temperature: 15º-17ºC

With what to accompany: Grilled meat, stews and legumes.

 

Torremilanos – Ribera del Duero 2015 – Awarded Gold by Singapore Newspaper

Vintage: 2015

Preparation:
Manual collection with selection in Warehouse.
95% Tempranillo
5% Cabernet Sauvignon
Average age of the vineyard: 50 years

Aging:
17 months in French and American oak barrels.

Service temperature: 15º-17ºC

What to accompany: Roasts, stews and legumes.

 

Torre Albeniz – Ribera del Duer –  Awarded Gold by Singapore Newspaper

Preparation:
Manual collection of vineyards with selection in the cellar.
97% Tempranillo (country ink), 3% White Tempranillo (country white)

Fermentation in barrels and small concrete tubs. After this time, it was aged in oak barrels of 225 liters.

Aging:
24 months in French oak barrels.

Service temperature: 15º-17ºC

With what to accompany: Roasts, grilled meat, stews and legumes.

 

Los Cantos – Ribera del Duero  2016 – Awarded Silver by Singapore Newspaper

Preparation:
Manual collection with selection in Warehouse.
95% Tempranillo
5% Merlot

Aged in 225 liter barrel.

Aging:
12 months in French and American oak barrels.

Service temperature: 15º-17ºC

With what to accompany: Roasts, meat stews and legumes.
