a6mani : Delicious Wines from Puglia’s Culture and Passion

Must read

Puglia, a wonderful region of Southern Italy, or 20,000 square kilometers of Mediterranean scrub, splendid coasts and sun-kissed countryside. A crossroads of peoples and cultures that over the centuries have settled in a unique territory, a millenary history made of love for the earth, hard work and joys. In Puglia, even the smallest strip of land tells of itself, its past and its history, a tale made of rocks, men and women, red earth, and centuries-old plants. The a6mani winery and its delicious wines are born from this intertwining of cultures and passions, from the splendid vineyards of Salento and from a sincere love of three women for their land.

Viticulture is ancient almost like the presence of man in this land. In Salento, the clayey and calcareous red earth follows the rhythm of the underlying layers of rock, covers the stone and, in a sense, makes it fertile. The climate is mild – with the exception of the hot summer days – the availability of water is very low, but regenerating winds blow from the nearby coasts. A unique balance, the prerequisite for quality viticulture. For generations, two families of winemakers have remained tied to the same vineyards, handing down secrets and knowledge, skills and culture. Since 2011, the sense of respect, love and warmth come back to life in the society founded by three cousins, three women, six hands and a single passion. a6mani is born like this, because the past is preserved and to realize a dream: to best express the potential of these lands by producing wines from native vines, in the heart of the Primitivo di Manduria doc. The a6mani project involves several farms, Monte la Conca, Li Marini, Mesola delle Volpi, Troncarea and Campofreddo, at most 20 km apart from each other. Although located in a fairly restricted area, each of these vineyards has peculiar geoclimatic conditions, from the red earth resting on a limestone subsoil on which old vineyards with very low yields are cultivated; to sandy soils by the sea, which facilitate a more refined aromatic expression. The a6mani vineyards grow in this way, tidy and beautiful like open-air museums, rich in rich and concentrated grapes, with a complex fruit and a balanced taste.

This 2019, A6mani has joined Singapore Newspaper Wines, Spirits and Beers Competition and won a gold medal:
